For the Materia Keeper fight if you are able to do 99 damage and poison Materia Keeper, his health will hit 7777 after a few poison ticks. This is the Lucky Sevens condition, which causes all damage sources to do 7777 damage, and since poison is self-damage, it kills Materia Keeper.

Why Aerith is dead - Cloud has a weapon called "Yoshiyuki" that doubles his damage for every party member that is dead.
