In today's episode of Page Turner Podcast, we have Jadav Payeng in conversation with Bageshree.
Jadav Payeng, also known as the "Forest Man of India," is an environmental activist and forestry worker of Assam. He gained international recognition for single-handedly planting and cultivating a vast forest ecosystem on an Island in the Brahmaputra River. Starting in 1979, Payeng dedicated himself to transforming a barren sandbar into a thriving forest by planting thousands of trees and nurturing the ecosystem. His remarkable efforts have not only restored biodiversity but also provided a habitat for numerous animal species, including elephants, rhinos, and tigers. Payeng's work underscores the transformative power of individual action in combating environmental degradation.
In this episode we talked about his journey of plantation.
We then talked about his love towards the nature and wildlife.
