Intermittent fasting in 3 simple steps for runners over 50.
Intermittent fasting is the best tool to manage the two most powerful hormones that affect your fat burning...insulin and human growth hormone.
Insulin promotes storing fat, and human growth hormone promotes burning fat. The idea is to limit the production of insulin and allow your human growth hormone to do it's thing.
To pull this off, you first need to be fat adapted, that is eating fewer carbs and more fat in your diet to prevent those sugar craving urges that make you hungry all the time.

Now, here's the three steps to start intermittent fasting.
Step 1: limit yourself to only 3 meals per day. Most of us snack during the day. Every time you eat, insulin is triggered, limiting fat burning. Do this until you are comfortable with 3 meals before going to the next step.
Step2: Limit your eating to 8 hours. That is a sixteen hour fast. You want to narrow the overall time insulin is produced and maximize human growth hormone. The best time to do this is in the morning, allowing your natural fat burning overnight to continue. Try not eating until 4 hours after you wake up. So if you normally wake up at 6, have your first meal at 10:00 and your last meal at 6.

Do this as often as you can during the week. You'll be amazed how easy this is.
The third step is to limit your eating to 4 hours. Again, don't try this until you're comfortable with the 16 hour fast. One time a week, don't eat until early afternoon, then eat dinner 4 hours later.
So if you really want to lose weight and maximize the anti aging benefits of human growth hormone, try the 16 hour or 20 hour fast. Even if you only do it once per week, you'll notice increased weight loss and energy.
