Ever since I've owned the 2003 4Runner, there has been a check engine light for a bad oxygen sensor. Oxygen sensors do go bad and I have replaced O2 sensors in the 2014 Ford Explorer and 2005 Kia Spectra. The O2 sensor measures the portions of oxygen compared to other gas or liquids in the exhaust. This data is sent back to the engine's computer to make adjustments to the air-fuel ratio to keep the engine from running too lean or rich. Changing the O2 sensor can be very easy, and in this video, we walk through the process and clear that pesky check engine light.
