Soaking wet, sliding through wet-cement-like snow, and holding on for dear life. This was not a bluebird powder day—this was a rain-soaked survival session at Alpental, snowboarding down Gunmount and Lower Edelweiss Bowl on a red avalanche danger day.
⚠️ With inbounds-only restrictions due to extreme avalanche conditions, I stayed on the open terrain served by Chair 2, tackling black diamond slopes as a less experienced snowboarder—which added to the challenge (and the suffering).
The snow was wet, heavy, and grabby, the rain was relentless, and everything I wore ended up drenched. But hey—every ride is still an adventure, even when it’s Type 2 fun.
