Community + Code: Episode 13 - Mike Demo

If you’ve been to more than one WordCamp, odds are you’ve seen Mike Demo. He’s a Partnerships Lead at Hosting.com and a familiar face in the open-source world—someone who thrives on connecting people, projects, and ideas. Demo describes himself as a “lead handshaker,” a title that pretty much says it all: his work is about people first, technology second.

In this episode, we talk about Mike’s journey from the Joomla community to WordPress, his long-standing commitment to open-source collaboration, and what he’s learned about helping agencies and developers work more efficiently. We also get into his philosophy that open-source projects shouldn’t see each other as competitors. The real challenge, he says, isn’t WordPress vs. Drupal or Joomla—it’s open vs. closed platforms that restrict user freedom and ownership.
