Touhou 20 東方錦上京 ~ Fossilized Wonders - Perfect Extra Stage (ExNNNN) (ReimuG1)

A clear of Extra without deaths, bombs, hyper breaks and only using passive & neutral hypers that don't give you any advantages.
Basically the hardest no-fun-allowed you can possibly make this.

Compared to Lunatic this sure is a breeze. Nothing too terribly hard in this, though the survival is kinda insane??? The midboss has some annoying patterns too.

ReimuG1 is also just an incredible shot, she does so much damage if you plant her options on top of bosses. Also in an extremely convenient turn of events for this fight, once you place the options once, they work for every single spellcard and nonspell. So you never need to re-place them (except once for the spinny spell because you have to unfocus). The boss has an extremely fat hitbox so it's pretty easy to place the options for full damage.

The gimmick with the survival spell is that bullets and yourself get slowed down while you're inside the brown streams. Because all the bullets get clumped up, some real walls can form if you're unlucky. The last part is ????? I think you're just supposed to stay in the brown streams for as much as possible and pray you don't get walled.

The final is really easy because you get a screen clear for every phase transition and you can time this to make most of the bullets go away. I mess it up a little bit in this run though.

New Touhou came out.

Compared to the demo they made a great number of improvements.
For one your shot doesn't seem to suck as much, and the wonder stones actually die at a decent pace now. Though they might have nerfed them a bit too much on bosses because they don't shoot anything anymore lmao.
But they also show up much more now, and blowing them up all over the place is very satisfying. As a result you also get way more resources, bullet cancels and power, which certainly makes stage 1 not total ass anymore.

Good things that weren't fixed since the demo: your hitbox is still 1x1.
Bad things that weren't fixed since the demo: some bullet hitboxes are still wildly off-center (PLZ ZUN). Also scoring is still completely broken, at 40 incident value your points still drop to zero duo to a bug.

First impressions are that this is a crazy hard game, waaaay harder than anything you would even see in LoLK.
I guess ZUN really wants you to use all the mechanics of the game this time.
These late game patterns are absolutely nuts. I'll have to see how much of these are realistically possible to do without using resources.

I still have good feelings with this one though, it's probably the best Touhou game released in the last decade.
Though of course it's hard to tell on just day 1. But stages seem cool and your main shot doesn't seem to suck as much anymore like in the other recent games, which is all I really asked for.
The game seems a bit like a celebration of the series, with many abilities in this referencing past games.

The game has been commonly described so far as Hollow Song of Birds combined with Undefined Fantastic Object.
There are abilities you choose at the start combined with UFO-like enemies that show up and attack you but work otherwise the same.

Hypers make a return and are unavoidable now, to the chagrin of many a survival player.
There is also enemy chaining, so it's almost like you're playing DOJ if you squint hard enough.

There are an insane amount of shot and ability combinations.
There are four main categories: a hyper category, a focus shot category, a unfocus shot category and a support category.
Each category has 8 different abilities to choose from, and Reimu and Marisa get some unique abilities. So in total that's about 5,376 different shot combinations. Are all of those balanced? Who knows. Probably not.
