Lake Belton High School (LBHS) opened in the fall of 2020 in Temple, serving as the second high school in Belton Independent School District
The campus is located at 9809 FM 2483, Temple, TX 76502, and the new facility cost approximately $125.6 million, developed by O’Connell Robertson and Bartlett Cocke
Design & Facilities
The school spans roughly 394,000 square feet, offering a modern, collegiate layout with collaborative learning "communities," a large library and digital learning center, and "Think Tank" teacher workspaces
It includes extensive extracurricular and technical spaces: a 600-seat auditorium, CTE (Career & Technical Education) areas such as a commercial kitchen, science super-labs, art wing, music rooms, a dance studio with basketball court flooring, and robust athletic facilities
Enrollment & Classification
Initially starting with just 9th and 10th grades, the first senior class graduated in 2023. LBHS is now classified as UIL 5A, Division I, and has nearly 3,100 students enrolled
Academic Performance & Demographics
According to GreatSchools, LBHS earns a 7/10, placing it above average among Texas public and charter schools serving similar grades
For the 2023–2024 school year, the school had 2,267 students. About 37.8% were identified as at-risk of dropping out, 29.6% were economically disadvantaged, and 2.2% were enrolled in bilingual/ESL programs. The average SAT score was 960, ACT score 21.1, with teachers averaging 9.3 years of experience and earning around $62,309 annually.
