Poultry Production house must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected during downtime before arrival of new chicks to minimize infection load when new batch of chicks are expecting. FUMIGATION with Potassium Permanganate (KMnO4) & Formalin (40% Formaldehyde) is one of the best, Effective, convenient & labor-saving procedure of successful Poultry house disinfection.
Fumigation produces a violent chemical reaction that generates considerable Heat and releases Formaldehyde gas, which has extremely effective germicidal action, if sufficient contact times (at least 8 hours) are given. Fumigation efficiently kills Insects, Rodents & mites.
KMnO4 17.5gm and Formalin 35ml (KMnO4 & Formalin 1:2 ratio) per cubic meter is suggested concentration for poultry houses. Because of the violent chemical reaction, never use more than 1.2 litres of Formalin.
The container must be sufficiently bigger, at least 3 times the volume of the disinfectant to prevent bubbling out of mixture. The container shall be made of Steel or Earthen and it should be placed on concrete floor or on metal surface, never on litter material. Always add Formalin on Potassium Permanganate, never vice versa.
The following must protocol or standard operating procedures has been followed in this short video:
• Metallic Pot of chemicals
• Concrete Floor
• Sealed Poultry House
• All equipment to be used kept inside after cleaning
• Trained Personal
• Compulsory Mask use
• Removal of any Hydrochloric Acid & Chlorine containing disinfectant from inside the shed
• Immediate Locking of the shed after application for 24 hours.
