Seigo Yamaguchi Sensei was one of the most important of the early aikido instructors of the postwar era. He taught at the Aikikai Hombu Dojo in Tokyo for several decades attaining the rank of 9th dan.
Yamaguchi Sensei influenced several generations of practitioners within the Aikikai system including several of today’s senior instructors of the headquarters school.
What follows are rare scenes from a general class taught by Seigo Yamaguchi at the Aikikai Hombu Dojo in 1973. Here at 49 years of age, Yamaguchi Sensei was in his prime as he conducts class in the crowded headquarters dojo.
