What is Daycare Syndrome? Why is my Child Always Sick?!

Is it normal that my child is sick every 2 weeks?

Daycare syndrome is a term that refers to children in daycare settings getting multiple viruses, sometimes all together at once and often one after another.

During the first year of day care, it’s expected that children can be sick every couple of weeks. This is especially true during cold and flu season (fall and winter) .

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, it’s normal for young kids to get 10 to 12 respiratory infections in a year. Infections can include coughs, runny noses, ear infections, stomach viruses.

Hang in there- its gets better-

I have 2 days care kids and we started to see big changes in number of illnesses between 2.5-4yo. But we still are averaging maybe 1 a month instead of 4
