A controversy over the hijab or headscarf worn by Muslim girls has escalated in coastal Karnataka and spread to many other parts of India. A three-judge bench of the Court, headed by the Chief Justice of the state, said that till the matter is pending, students should not wear any religious garments and referred the case to a larger bench.
