This powerful khutbah reminds us of the fleeting and temporary nature of this worldly life (dunyā) and the importance of prioritizing our actions for the sake of Allah. It highlights how small and insignificant the pleasures of this world are compared to the everlasting rewards of the Hereafter.
As Muslims, we are encouraged to live in this world as travelers, focusing our hearts and efforts on deeds that bring us closer to Allah ﷻ. True success is not found in wealth, status, or material gain, but in pleasing our Creator and preparing for the eternal life to come.
Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’an:
“Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children. But the Hereafter is better for those who fear Allah. So will you not reason?”
(Surah Al-Hadid 57:20)
