In one of the extremely remote areas of Madhya Pradesh, you will find a village that is setting an example. An innovation hub for Welthungerhilfe’s (WHH) unique concept of Nutrition Smart CommUNITY, the people of Patan Village take charge of their own development. All the actions and decisions to improve the social and economic welfare of the village is owned by them. The community is trained in child and women health monitoring, to detect early malnutrition among infants and multi-vitamin deficiencies like anaemia in women. Agricultural reforms like less use of chemical treatments, shift from mono to multi-cropping and ensure food security.
Innovation Hubs are those where WHH demonstrates and successfully implements all good practices or components of Nutrition Smart CommUNITY. It is a knowledge hub from which other stakeholders can learn and replicate the good practices in their villages and areas. The hubs play the role for developing and piloting new innovative practices. The villages are connected to the global platform to give marginalised communities a voice, drive empowerment, promote cross-learning, and allowing continuous documentation on progress.
