Solitude // Company is a performance dedicated to exploring the interplay between man and machine; to finding the space for human connection within a world filled with digital technology.
In modern society, people are inseparable from smart technology when it comes to interfacing with the world around them. During the Covid-19 pandemic, physical distancing has inadvertently deepened our reliance on social media to “connect” with one other, but do these screens and networks hold the capacity to communicate the intricacies and wide dynamic of the human experience? In fact, many people omit certain details when sharing something publicly, so some may start to wonder why we pay so much attention to what other people are “sharing”. This realization can be seen as an invitation to journey within and visit the inner self, a process that steps beyond the confines of the world we think we know.
This surreal space is where Solitude // Company begins: two musicians each in their personal spheres, gently expressing the archeology of inner thought. As the cloud of digital information grows and further occupies this psychic space, each musician naturally must confront and interact with the digital sounds. This leads them to search for, and play with each other’s presences through this digital veil, which can be misguided and sometimes disruptive. In the end, the value of these technologies cannot be overlooked, but we can still choose to look up to participate in and celebrate true communion.

Solitude//Company 探索著人與機器之間的關係,
在充滿數位科技的世界裡,找尋著人與人的關係和空
間。
現代社會裡,人們對生活周遭事物的探索幾乎和智能
科技密不可分,但是從螢幕和程式中真的有辦法傳達
人類複雜的生命經驗嗎?
這個問題開啟了一段旅程,深入探訪我們的自我內心
意識,並且超越我們對這個世界的認知。
Solitude//Company 是從超現實的氛圍開始,兩位
音樂家各自在自己的空間裡,用脆弱的音響來描述內
心的架構。隨著數位資訊的增長,它開始佔據了整個
心靈空間,音樂家也隨著數位科技的聲音引領他們去
找尋彼此,並且產生互動連結。在這層壟罩之中演
奏,也有可能會被數位科技的聲音誤導甚至是被破
壞。雖然這些科技的價值是無法被忽視的,但我們依
舊不能忘記要去期盼和參與人們相聚在一起的感受。
