Karnataka Congress Crisis: No 2.5-Year CM Deal, Siddaramaiah's Aide Dares High Command | India Today

The political power struggle in the Karnataka Congress government intensifies, focusing on the Chief Minister's post held by Siddaramaiah. The conflict centres on an alleged power-sharing agreement for a rotational Chief Ministership with Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. Basavaraj Rayareddy, Economic Advisor to the Chief Minister, states that the Congress High Command did not specify a term limit for Siddaramaiah. According to Rayareddy, 'the Congress high command or observers, they have not told legislature who voted, this will be for two and a half years... When they have not told, definitely it is for the five years'. Meanwhile, MLAs from D.K. Shivakumar's camp are reportedly in Delhi to lobby the party leadership, arguing that a power-sharing deal was an 'open secret' and should be honoured. The ongoing tussle is causing concern about its impact on the party and state administration.
