The first meter-gauge train between Bhuj and Naliya was established in the 1980s. This line was later converted to broad gauge. The 101.24 km railway line between Bhuj and Naliya was converted to broad gauge, with the section between Bhuj and Deshalpur (28 km) being commissioned in 2018, and the remaining section to Naliya (74 km) under gauge conversion. The Bhuj-Naliya Rail Gauge Conversion Project was dedicated to the nation in November 2024.
