Alcohol free Beer, Energy jets, AI and elections, Pumpkin Spice is back

First, John Russell has a story about a favorite drink in Germany. The country will soon celebrate Oktoberfest. The long celebration is market by a lot of beer drinking. Then, Mario has a report from scientists who study distant galaxies who have found incredibly long energy jets. The scientists say the energy jets are shooting out of a single black hole in a distant galaxy. They estimate the jets to be 23 million light years across. After that, Bryan Lynn reports on a recent law in California. The state recently enacted three legislative measures that ban the use of AI tools to create false images and videos during election campaigns. Following the report, Ashley and Bryan discuss vocabulary in the report: the words parody and satire. Bryan provides definitions and usage notes.
Finally, on Lesson of the Day, Andrew Smith and Jill Robbins talk about Lesson 22 of Let’s Learn English. In that episode, Anna thinks of ways to talk about summer vacation with her video producer Amelia. Andrew and Jill discuss the phrase “go on,” “take you on,” “go for a ride.” The two even recall a song from the 1970s, Steppenwolf’s Magic Carpet Ride.
