I'm trying to write a game / game system on the Mac Command Line system using Curses. It's a platform game, and includes a full graphics / level editor.
Using a Mac Command Line to write games is quite a possible and wonderful experience. Most people think it's boring and colourless, no graphics etc.. but it isn't really entirely so. Nowdays you can get the MESLO LGS Nerd Font which contains many cute chars, includes the original IBM PC / DOS and Commodore 64 / VIC -20 / PET "PETSCII" characters. You no longer have to stick to just ASCII. Plus the colour is very configurable.

curses came from routines in the VIM editor, originally used for it to access the entire screen allowing full screen text editing - revolutionary at the time (mid 70's)
