दिल्ली के जोर बाग इलाके में स्थित सफदरजंग मकबरा, शहर के सबसे भव्य स्मारकों में से एक है, फिर भी यह न तो भीड़भाड़ वाला है और न ही ज़्यादा लोकप्रिय। जहाँ दुनिया भर से बड़ी संख्या में यात्री जामा मस्जिद और हुमायूँ के मकबरे जैसी जगहों पर जाना सुनिश्चित करते हैं , वहीं सफदरजंग मकबरा एक ऐसा मकबरा है जिसे अक्सर नज़रअंदाज़ कर दिया जाता है और शायद यह उन खास लोगों के लिए बचा रहता है जो यहाँ पहुँचने के लिए कुछ अतिरिक्त कदम उठाते हैं।
शहर के इतिहास को आकार देने में इसकी निस्संदेह महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका रही है और एक वास्तुशिल्प चमत्कार होने के नाते, यह मुगल काल के वैभव को दर्शाता है। 'सफदरजंग का मकबरा' के नाम से भी जाना जाने वाला यह मकबरा हरे-भरे बगीचों से घिरा हुआ है और संगमरमर और बलुआ पत्थर से बना है। इसका निर्माण अठारहवीं शताब्दी के अंत में हुआ था और यह उस समय के सांस्कृतिक प्रभावों को दर्शाता है।

While a large number of travellers from all across the world ensure to make their way to places like Jama Masjid and Humayun’s Tomb, Safdarjung Tomb is one that is often missed and perhaps, saves itself for those special ones who take a few extra steps to reach here.
It has had an unquestionably essential role in shaping the history of the city and being an architectural marvel, it reflects the splendour of the Mughal era. Also known as ‘Safdarjung ka Maqbara,’ the tomb is surrounded by lush green gardens and is made of marble and sandstone. It was built in the late eighteenth century and reflects the cultural influences of the time.
The tomb is the burial chamber of Safdarjung, a political leader who was the Prime Minister or Wazir ul-Hindustan of the Indian subcontinent during the rule of Ahmad Shah Bahadur. It was built by his son, Nawab Shujaud Daula and stays as the last garden tomb to reflect the architecture of the Mughal era.
