Oyster and contactless pay as you go are not valid on this service due to it running fast from Cambridge to Kings Cross. The last station to accept oyster cards on the ECML is Potters Bar while Welwyn Garden City is the last station to accept contactless pay as you go (but not oyster), although on 14th December 2025 contactless pay as you go (but not oyster) will be extended to Stevenage, Hitchin, Letchworth and Baldock. Only 2 short platforms on this route; Watlington and Littleport, both of which are front 4 coaches.
