'To Sir, With Love (1967)' is a British drama film based on E. R. Braithwaite's 1959 autobiographical novel of the same name. Directed and written by James Clavell, the film deals with social and racial issues in an inner city school. It stars Sidney Poitier and features Christian Roberts, Judy Geeson, Suzy Kendall, Patricia Routledge and Lulu.
The story revolves around an idealistic engineer, who doesn't find a job anywhere and ends up accepting an interim teaching position North Quay Secondary School. He has to teach a group of rambunctious high school students from the slums of London's east end.
Trivia: Actor Sidney Poitier became the first black actor to win a Golden Globe Award.
