This Kimber Custom II .45 ACP 1911 was Kevin's very first handgun purchase in 2007. He wanted to share his thoughts and experiences with the pistol now that he has put well above 10,000 rounds (closer to 15,000) through it and has subjected it to a multitude of environments.
This pistol has been his EDC and work handgun for years and been encased in dirt, mud, concrete, and a multitude of different holsters over the years. Despite the wrap that Kimber pistols get for being unreliable, he was fortunate to purchase one that has remained apart from that stereotype.
Kevin forgot to mention that the only malfunctions he had experienced with the pistol were within the first 200 rounds he had fired out of it. These were Wolf-brand, steel cased rounds shot from a stock Kimber magazine. While he never experienced any more malfunctions after this period, he changed all of his carry magazines to Wilson Combat 47D's. He has had no reported malfunctions since.
Also featured in this video are the Surefire MR07 rail and X300 light, as well as a custom Bladetech WRS duty holster designed to fit the entire setup in it's tactical configuration.
Please enjoy the video and discuss your opinions on the Kimber series of 1911's. We know that people have had mixed experiences with the different batches that have come out, but we would love to be able to compare our's with your's!
