IRS agent Mr. Landman (John Stephenson) pays a visit to the Clampett mansion but is promptly chased off by Granny, brandishing her shotgun. Determined to investigate further, Landman heads to Drysdale’s office to get answers. He’s puzzled by how Jed went from being poor one year to enormously wealthy the next. Through a series of flashbacks, Drysdale recounts Jed’s rise to fortune, explaining how Jed struck oil and became a millionaire. He also shares how Pearl encouraged Jed to move to Beverly Hills, despite Elly’s initial reluctance to leave her beloved critters behind.
On the drive back to the Clampett mansion, Drysdale continues his tale, recalling how Granny resisted the move to Beverly Hills, preferring their simple mountain life. When they arrive, Jed extends a warm invitation to stay for dinner, which Landman and Drysdale accept. However, their enthusiasm quickly wanes when they discover what’s on the menu, leaving them to regret their decision.
