OpenBVE Semi Throwback (Dec 1st Special) - R44 SIR Train (via Express)

R44 SIR train, from St. George to Tottenville via express.

This marks the 2nd run of the SIR, with the R220 being the 1st to run on the same route in the opposite direction; this is the very 1st run for the SIR R44. This train has been in service for almost 52 years since 1973, and literally the only passenger train on Staten Island. It replaced the older ME-1s which were built in 1925. On Oct 2024, the newer R211Ss began service as a new replacement; the remaining 50 R44s have since been restricted to contingency services only due to a sufficient amount of the R211S. Many others have since been scrapped.

This run takes place after 2017, when Nassau and Atlantic stations were closed, demolished, and replaced by Arthur Kill. The R44 was one of the final productions of the St. Louis Car Company along with the SOAC before closing down in 1974.
