The tree is a 5 year old Hong Kong orchid that has not been fed, mulched, or watered correctly! Besides spending hours making high-quality mulch (which you don't need to do), it took maybe 30 minutes and only a few bucks.
I will post future updates as the tree heals and starts to recover.
