Sometimes I think we rigid heddle weavers would rather direct warp barefoot in a bed of hot coals before we try to indirect warp. Direct warping is awesome! But sometimes you need to indirect warp and it's a valuable skill to have. You don't have to be afraid of it! Here I show how to use one of the painted warps I sell but I use this method of working with all my warps.
When I make my warp I use a counting tie at the top of my warp: this is just a tie that knots every 20 or so ends.
If I have a very fine or long warp I use smaller bouts of ends instead of one large one.
If you have tangles, patiently move them to the end a few inches at time. I have never had a warp get so tangled I couldn't warp it on.
