Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Joel Ssenyonyi was paying tribute to the late Hon. Stella Apolot Isodo, who passed away recently, when a tense exchange occurred between him and Speaker Anita Among on the floor of Parliament.
As Ssenyonyi delivered his tribute, he protested interruptions, stating:
“Do you want to speak on my behalf? Leave me to speak.”
The moment sparked debate about parliamentary procedure, respect during tribute sessions, and freedom of expression, especially during solemn proceedings honoring departed Members of Parliament.
Hon. Stella Apolot Isodo was remembered for her service, dedication, and contribution to Uganda’s Parliament.
