Dead Tuna - Chateau Liberte'

An excerpt from the Chateau Liberte' documentary film. Dead Tuna is a section from the film with stories about classic rock bands Hot Tuna, Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders and Kingfish with Bob Weir. Includes images of all bands performing at the Chateau Liberte in the early 1970s. Hot Tuna song "Been So Long" and "Battle of New Orleans" by Kingfish feature live recordings from shows at the legendary Chateau Liberte'. The Saunders Garcia song "Keepers" is also featured.

"Caffeine and Ketamine" by the San Francisco band The Coo Coo Birds begins this excerpt. The band includes Ryan Zweng, Associate Producer of the film.

Interviews with legendary radio personality Steven Seaweed "The Weedman" at The Bone KSAN 107.7 radio station in San Francisco. Also interviewed are former bartenders Trudi Vonahnen and Candyjo Jorgensen. Doobie Brothers' guitar technician Mark Brown is interviewed. San Francisco performer Geoffrey Pond is also interviewed.

The documentary film "The Chateau Liberte'" was produced, directed and narrated by film maker W.J. McKay. McKay was a young man when he spent time at the Chateau Liberte' in the late 1970s.

The film premiered in Santa Cruz, California on July 10th, 2021 to a sold out audience at The Rio Theatre.
