The bottom line up front: I cleaned up the outside of this unit after realizing how dirty it was in good light.
I bought this 2nd hand 10 years ago. I lived in a dim lit apartment and never noticed how nasty this thing was on the outside. It also had a very static volume slider and uneven output levels. Audio Electronics Dallas cleaned it up on the inside for $86.60. The unit hums a bit but I think its just inherit to this unit. Recapping the whole thing isn't worth it to me and I'm not even sure it would change anything. I can isolate it out later on.
