I went on vacation with my brother, his wife, their kids, and a group of friends. My brother had offered to cover my trip if I helped out with his kids for a couple of days, which I gladly agreed to since I love my niece and nephew. Everything seemed fine—until one of the other parents, Ally, tried to dump her kid on me without asking. When I refused, she got upset and started spreading rumors, making it seem like I was unfairly refusing to help anyone but my brother. Suddenly, I was being treated like a free babysitter, with other parents hinting that I "owed" them childcare.
Things escalated when one family respectfully offered to pay me for babysitting, and I accepted. Ally then tried to pay me pocket change to watch her kid, and when I refused, she exploded.
