In 1952, during the Panmunjom armistice talks, control of Hill L would directly determine where the ceasefire line was drawn. To gain the upper hand at the negotiating table, both the North and South launched a new and bloody battle for the hill.
At this time, the captain of the South Korean frontline Crocodile Unit was mysteriously shot dead with a pistol belonging to his own side. Meanwhile, letters written by North Korean soldiers to their families were secretly being delivered through South Korean mail routes. Suspecting a traitor on the front lines, the South Korean command dispatched Lieutenant Kang Eun-pyo (played by Shin Ha-kyun) from the investigation unit to accompany the new commander to the Crocodile Unit.
In reality, the unit was being run by Kang’s former comrade, Lieutenant Kim Soo-hyuk (played by Go Soo), along with Captain Shin Il-young. Kang is shocked to discover that the once bookish Kim Soo-hyuk has become a hardened, battle-tested soldier. Although the Crocodile Unit appears undisciplined on the surface, it proves to be fiercely effective in combat.
As Kang experiences the brutal back-and-forth fighting for Hill L alongside the unit, he gradually uncovers clues that point to the Crocodile Unit’s secret acts of “collaboration with the enemy”…
