Filmed at the Naguabo Queen Conch Hatchery in Puerto Rico, this video shows how to handle and incubate queen conch eggs in a hatchery, from field collection to hatching. Topics covered include collecting egg masses, processing egg masses, understanding egg development, and observing the hatching process.
This hatchery is a partnership between the Queen Conch Lab, Florida Atlantic University Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute; Conservación ConCiencia; and the Naguabo Fishing Association. It is supported with two Saltonstall-Kennedy NOAA Fisheries Grants (Awards NA19NMF4270029 and NA21NMF4270353).
