(PC Engine CD) Super Darius - Completed 1 Life / No Deaths, 1CC 1080p60

Time for some more Darius love - This time Super Darius gets the no death treatment on my recently acquired PC Engine Duo-R !

Super Darius is a port of the arcade version of Darius with several changes, most notably the switch to a standard 4:3 game play screen ratio. The music and SFX seem very close, if not arcade perfect on this port.

Some other changes include the addition of several bosses that were not in the arcade version of Darius, some of which actually came from Darius 2 released in arcades the previous year.

To me, the game definitely feels more difficult than the arcade version of Darius (even with the PC Engine's built-in autofire). Having less room to maneuver your craft through stages and also having to deal with the bosses bullet patterns from much closer proximity took some getting used to for me.

In some cases, some enemies just fired faster bullets, even without taking into account the less room to move issue. I also noticed Fatty Glutton (the boss of H zone) had a slight change, making him harder, as well. His fish he sends out and then spreads into 4 fish don't spread out as widely, making it very hard to dodge. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this port of Darius and so far loving the PC Engine system I picked up. ABDHMRW path used in this run.

Definitely look for more PC Engine/TG16 replays at some point, especially some of the shmups - possibly Gate of Thunder or maybe Gradius 2 next.

Played on a PC Engine Duo-R system (with RGB mod) with an Avenue Pad 3 controller using default settings. No cheats, TAS (tool assistance), savestates/slowdown are used in my runs. Captured via XRGB-mini framemeister at 1080p/60fps; please watch in highest quality - it looks very sharp.
