My Journey From Nigeria to Ghana: Finding Kindness in Strangers

Traveling from one country to another can be a daunting task, especially when it involves long hours on the road. However, my recent trip from Nigeria to Ghana was life-changing in the best way possible. I not only got to experience the beauty of West Africa, but I also discovered kindness in the most unexpected places.

My journey started at dawn when I hopped on a bus from Lome Togo to Ghana. The bus was filled with strangers, mostly Ghanaians who were traveling for business and other reasons. I was the only Nigerian on board, but that didn't stop me from feeling comfortable around them. I struck up conversations with a few of them, and we exchanged stories about our different cultures. They were fascinated with my Nigerian accent, and I was equally mesmerized by their Ghanaian English.

As the journey progressed, I began to feel tired and sleepy. I had packed several snacks and water bottles to keep me energized, but it wasn't enough. I needed a place to rest, even if it was just for a few minutes. Thankfully, I didn't have to ask for help. One of the passengers, a middle-aged woman, noticed how exhausted I looked and offered me a pillow and a blanket. She told me to rest my head on her lap, and I did. Within minutes, I was fast asleep.

I woke up hours later, feeling refreshed and grateful for the kindness of the woman. As the journey continued, I met other strangers who were willing to go the extra mile for me. One man offered to share his meal with me, another helped me with my luggage, and a young woman gave me her phone to connect internet . These people didn't know me from Adam, yet they showed me love and kindness.

By the time I arrived in Accra, I was a changed person. I had seen the beauty of West Africa, but more importantly, I had experienced the kindness of strangers. I realized that there's still good in the world, and that kindness is universal. I had made new friends, and I knew that the memories of my journey would stay with me forever.
