The Kell House Museum links our history to our future. Its exhibits and tours teach the stories of Wichita Falls in order for our community to learn from our greatest successes, as well as our failures. In order to ensure these stories are preserved, the Wichita County Heritage Society recently began fundraising for our biggest undertaking yet – the full restoration of the Kell House to her original 1909 splendor.
After several months of fundraising, we have raised $537,000 of the $2,000,000 needed for the rehabilitation of the Kell House. A great many public foundations offering grants, as well as historic tax credits, only fund projects once they have met half their goal. Therefore, we need to reach that magic $1,000,000 number before being eligible to apply for this funding. This leaves us with a gap of $463,000 between our current total and meeting these grant requirements.
The success of this campaign depends on the support of individuals and businesses that call Wichita County home. Our close-knit community believes in our philosophy of “Saving the Past for the Future.” We hope this will include you. The Kell House is a treasure for future generations that cannot be lost.
