Mobile Fidelity, an audiophile reissue label, has released the names on its website of 16 vinyl reissues it says were cut from digital files and not directly from the analog master tapes. The titles include albums by Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, The Grateful Dead, Vanilla Fudge, Johnny Cash, Jeff Beck, Michael Jackson, The Young Rascals, T. Rex, Harry Nilsson, David Crosby, and The Alan Parsons Project. It’s expected that more digitally cut albums will be revealed by MoFI. News that the reissue label has used digital files to cut reissues thought to be all-analog has angered many in the audiophile community.
