Step aboard a uniquely Romanian tram — the Bucur V2A-T — captured throughout the spring and summer of 2025 in Bucharest. This 4-minute video offers a close look at one of the city's most iconic, yet often overlooked, public transport vehicles. Shot with a Sony WX350, it reveals the life and motion of this locally built tram in real urban conditions.
🚋 What is the Bucur V2A-T?
Produced by URAC (the repair and construction workshop of Bucharest's public transport company), the Bucur V2A-T represents a transitional phase in Romania’s tram development. First introduced in the late 1990s, this two-car, high-floor tram was designed to replace older models while keeping production entirely local.
🔧 Key Features:
– 100% built in Bucharest
– 2-section, 3-door configuration
– High-floor design, robust chassis
– Updated control systems and energy efficiency improvements
– Operates exclusively in Bucharest
💡 Did You Know?
Despite its older look, the V2A-T still serves daily routes in Romania’s capital. While not as modern as newer low-floor models, it remains a resilient and cost-effective solution — a quiet hero of everyday commuting.
