May 13, 2025 – Phosphate Rolling, Crew Smiling
Caught this one just in time — CSX B218-08, an empty phosphate train heading northbound, rolled by with a solid foreign/domestic lash-up and a crew full of energy. The conductor’s greeting was hilarious, and it truly made the catch more than just another train — it was a reminder of the people behind the power.
🚂 Train Info – B218 (Tampa, FL – Hooker’s Point ➡ Mulberry, FL):
Lead Unit: CP #8520 – GE AC4400CW
Trailing Unit: CSX #5447 – GE ES40DC

🎥 Filmed in 4K HDR, this catch had it all — clean power, rolling speed, sunshine, and some of the best energy from a crew all year. The friendly wave and radio banter added the perfect personality to a rock-solid train.

🧠 Factoid: CP AC4400CW #8520
The GE AC4400CW, like CP #8520, is a staple in Canadian Pacific’s heavy-haul roster. With 4,400 horsepower and AC traction, these units are built for rugged service, especially in mountainous and long-haul assignments. Seeing one on CSX rails deep in Florida is always a treat — especially when paired with a high-energy crew.
