Safety, sustainability, and natural ingredients make up some of the key foundations of the clean beauty movement; however, with no legal or set definition, clean beauty is no more than a marketing term. I will explain the chemical processes behind our everyday products as well as debunking the various myths surrounding certain ingredients, and highlight some of the problems the ‘Clean’ movement causes as companies use fallacies to perpetuate fear and sell their product. Helena is a student at Francis Holland, Sloane Square in London. She plans on studying chemistry at university and is paticularly interested in cosmetic science.
