Cold Process and Melt & Pour Soap Making - Combining CP & MP Soap. Timeline & recipe below. This simple soap was going to be my entry for the CP + MP Soap Challenge Club last month, but I just ran out of time. Since I recorded the whole process, I thought I’d make a video anyway. I apologize for the shaking table at times. I'm in a temporary location at the moment. Hopefully that will be fixed next time.
If I left anything out or you simply have a question about something, just comment below, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. Thank you for watching! And if you liked this video or subscribed to my channel, thank you so much!!
In case you’re interested, I have an affiliate store where I’ve listed all of the soap making supplies and materials that I purchase on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/shop/kapiameras...
If you use those links to buy anything, it won’t cost you anything extra, but I will receive a very small percentage of the sale. Every little bit helps, though, so thank you very much if you do! :)
This was my first time to use melt and pour soap, and I was really pleased at how easy it was to get vibrant colors using very little of my herb and spice infused oils. One more thing about the melt and pour - I was worried it wouldn't stick to the cold process (especially since I let the CP soap sit for so long). At first it seemed that way, but after the cut bars sat for a day, I couldn't budge the mp.

*** RECIPE ***
Both batches used the same recipe
Olive Oil - 35%
Coconut Oil - 25%
Lard - 30%
Avocado Oil - 5%
Castor Oil - 5%
Superfat - 5%
Water & Lye calculated with a soap calculator
Activated charcoal mixed in sunflower oil - I use a ratio of 1 tsp charcoal in 1 Tbsp of sunflower oil to get the charcoal nice and smooth. I then used 1 Tbsp of this charcoal oil for every pound of oils in my recipe.
Annatto Seed, Paprika, Indigo Root, and Alkanet Root infused oils - just enough to achieve the color. It really didn’t take much at all (no more than 1 ml each, if that).
Kaolin Clay - 2 tsp per 500g of oils - http://goo.gl/CE9m0V
Essential Oils:
Rosemary essential oil - 3 parts
Peppermint essential oil - 1 part
