Discover Central Park’s Roller Skating Hotspot: The Skate Circle Unveiled!

Welcome to Central Park, New York City’s playground! Tucked in its heart is the Skate Circle, a roller skating haven where music, moves, and NYC vibes collide. Ready to roll? Let’s dive in!

Roller skating in Central Park exploded in the late 1970s, a disco-fueled craze. By the ‘90s, noise complaints nearly shut it down, but the Central Park Dance Skaters Association—CPDSA—saved the day, organizing free skate parties that still rock today.

Located on ‘Dead Road’—aka Center Drive—the Skate Circle is a paved hotspot. From April to October, most Saturdays and Sundays, 2:45 to 6:45 PM, it’s a free dance party for all levels. Bring your skates, and join the fun!

The Skate Circle’s vibe? Pure joy. The CPDSA hosts live DJs spinning R&B, dance, and house. Quad and inline skaters show off tricks, from leg twirls to spins, drawing crowds as big as the skaters themselves. It’s as fun to watch as it is to join!

All are welcome—pros, newbies, even kids, though under 14s need helmets. Enter along the fence, not across the rink, to keep it safe. Check CPDSA.org for the calendar, as major park events or rain can pause the party.
