Quiaios is a parish in the municipality of Figueira da Foz with an area of ​​52.31 km², 2,775 inhabitants (2021 census) and a population density of 53 inhabitants/km².

Quiaios is located in central Portugal, on the Atlantic coast. The villages of Murtinheira and Praia de Quiaios are located on the coast, while the centre of Quiaios is located inland.

Quiaios is one of the largest parishes in Figueira da Foz. It is served by the A17 motorway connecting Aveiro to Leiria.

History
The first references to Quiaios date back to the 9th century. In 1514, Manuel I granted the village a charter.

The municipality of Quiaios was abolished in 1836 and incorporated into Maiorca as a parish. The municipality of Maiorca was itself abolished in 1853 and merged with Figueira da Foz.

Quiaios is also known for its vast and natural beach.
Quiaios Beach is inserted in a landscape that combines a vast expanse of vegetation with an enormous expanse of sand.
A long wooden walkway runs along the dunes of the beach, connecting it to the infrastructures that serve bathers.
Between the seaside and the imposing Serra da Boa Viagem there are hiking trails.
Given the great length of the beach, nudism is practiced in the most remote areas of the dunes. Surfers are also a regular presence, given the conditions conducive to the sport.

Quiaios é uma freguesia do concelho da Figueira da Foz com uma área de 52,31 km², 2.775 habitantes (censos de 2021) e uma densidade populacional de 53 habitantes/km².

Quiaios situa-se no centro de Portugal, na costa atlântica. As freguesias de Murtinheira e Praia de Quiaios situam-se no litoral, enquanto o centro de Quiaios se situa no interior.

Quiaios é uma das maiores freguesias da Figueira da Foz. É servida pela autoestrada A17, que liga Aveiro a Leiria.

História
As primeiras referências a Quiaios remontam ao século IX. Em 1514, D. Manuel I concedeu foral à vila.

O concelho de Quiaios foi extinto em 1836 e incorporado em Maiorca como freguesia. O concelho de Maiorca foi extinto em 1853 e fundido com a Figueira da Foz.

Quiaios é também conhecida pela sua vasta praia natural.
A Praia de Quiaios está inserida numa paisagem que combina uma vasta extensão de vegetação com um enorme areal.
Um longo passadiço de madeira percorre as dunas da praia, ligando-a às infraestruturas que servem os banhistas.
Entre a orla marítima e a imponente Serra da Boa Viagem existem percursos pedestres.
Dada a grande extensão do areal, o nudismo é praticado nas zonas mais remotas das dunas. Os surfistas são também presença assídua, dadas as condições propícias à prática da modalidade.
