The government has confirmed it is considering using military sites to temporarily house asylum seekers.

It is part of a wider attempt to toughen up its small boats policy in the face of Reform's double digit poll lead. Latest figures show that - yesterday - around a thousand people crossed the channel in small boats, making a total of 30,000 so far this year.
