For the last couple of months, I’ve been working hard on rebuilding my indie game project, Liquid Lungs, in Unreal Engine 5.

This is a true first-person parkour FPS that combines the fast-paced movement and wallrunning mechanics of Titanfall, the cinematic slow-motion gunplay of Max Payne, and the sleek, neon-soaked aesthetic of Mirror's Edge. Set in a retro-futuristic, dystopian city inspired by 80s sci-fi, the game delivers an adrenaline-pumping experience with a focus on fluid controls and immersive level design.
Hi! I’m Carlcadium, a solo indie game developer passionate about creating unique gameplay experiences. In this devlog, I’ll show you how I rebuilt Liquid Lungs from the ground up using Unreal Engine 5, highlighting everything from programming in C++ and animation systems to 3D modeling in Blender and material creation with Substance Painter. I also dive into game mechanics design, optimization techniques, and the creative process behind crafting a visually striking cyberpunk-inspired world.
Whether you’re an indie dev, game design enthusiast, or FPS fan, join me as I document the challenges and breakthroughs of solo game development. Discover how I’ve implemented parkour systems like wallrunning, vaulting, and mantling, created dynamic environments with Unreal Engine 5's Lumen and Nanite, and brought my vision to life.
If you're into parkour games, retro sci-fi aesthetics, or the intersection of indie game development and Unreal Engine tutorials, this devlog is for you! Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe to stay updated on the progress of Liquid Lungs.
