Mark and Caroline take on one of the most beautiful gravels rides in the Highlands of Scotland. 80km's which took them along the Caledonian Canal, lochside on a disused railway line, into Fort Augustus and up the 700m climb of the Corrieyairack Pass. This is a bucket list gravel ride...
More info about the history of the road:
General Wade was commissioned to create a number of military roads in the Highlands of Scotland. He finished the Corrieyairack Pass in 1731 to help bolster the English defences against the Jacobite rebellion. Ironically it was the Scottish soldiers who first utilised this engineering feat through some of the steepest mountains that had been accessed at that time.
