Run a small wind turbine through Deye via rectifier - gone mad or a working solution?

That was a small and tiny test to see if the working range is good enough before actually doing a payment for my next 4m dia pitch control unit. And from what I have seen - I am now fully confident of the voltage selection for the new wind turbine. So it's decided - I am buying it, and let's wait for a couple of months before it arrives.

As of this exact test. I mean - using a rectifier might be a good thing, but the absence of brakes is something you have to take care about. There are several simple solutions to it, but I am not sure if I am going to need one...

I’ve always been curious whether a small wind turbine could be fed through a Deye hybrid inverter using just a rectifier — so I decided to try it. In this video, I walk you through my experiment: starting with the turbine setup, feeding into a basic rectifier, and then attempting to connect that DC output into the Deye system. Sounds simple, right? Well... not quite.

At first, things looked promising — the turbine spun up, power was flowing, and the wiring seemed solid. But as soon as the inverter got involved, the real test began. You’ll see fluctuating voltages, the inverter detecting input sporadically, and a lot of back-and-forth trying to stabilize the connection. I also dive into some of the theory behind the setup, including why I thought the rectifier might just bridge the gap between AC wind output and a solar-oriented MPPT inverter.

This isn’t a polished “how-to” — it’s more of a raw, real-world experiment. I share the wins, the hiccups, and the lessons learned along the way. Whether it’s a crazy idea or a glimpse of a workable off-grid solution, I’ll let you decide. Either way, it’s a fun ride into the DIY world of hybrid renewables.
