Michael Binkley carved this female torso sculpture in the fashion of his "Rubenesque" series of figures. The generous proportions of the hips and buttocks are in contrast to the slight shoulders and breasts, yet there is no appartent heaviness to the composition, as the torso seems to float above the circular base.
Binkley often contrasts the subject stone to the base and here the orange of the honey onyx is juxtaposed against the black of the granite. Honey onyx is translucent, as seen in the video.
