What an exciting day it has been with NE32 hatching and NE33 pipping! Gabby & Beau have been sharing brooding/incubating & feeding duties throughout the day. Gabby was feeding NE32 when the hatchling tumbled over backwards with its little pink toes in the air! It was so adorable - check out the timestamp at 03:23.
Papa Beau is totally smitten with NE32! He has offered bites to NE32 most of which were a bit too big for the little hatchling, but NE32 did get a couple bites down. Gabby spent more time feeding NE32 but at this stage, the hatchling has very little control of its neck muscles & can't hold its head up for very long. Its eyesight is poor as well so the parents have to guide the bites of food to NE32. NE32 will become stronger each day! Hopefully we will see NE33 hatch on New Year's Day!
