An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper suffered minor injuries after a vehicle crashed into his patrol car while he was handling a separate semi-truck crash on Interstate 76 in Portage County, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 10:07 a.m. Thursday on westbound Interstate 76 in Rootstown Township. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the trooper from the Ravenna Post had parked his cruiser on the right berm, outside of traffic lanes, with emergency lights activated.
While the trooper was on scene, a passenger vehicle traveling in the right lane lost control, went off the roadway, struck a guardrail and then collided with the rear of the patrol car, authorities said.
